UT2007 - New shaky cam video *Third part available


If you don't like videos made with a handheld camera that is a bit shaky I suggest you stop reading now. However if you don't mind the shakiness then I suggest you click the read more link so that you can get to the latest video from Unreal Tournament 2007 which actually shows some new things.

The video is split into two parts and it gives us our first view of the map DM-CarbonFire as well as some of the weapons in the game. The hud as you can see looks the same but that is probably because they haven't even tried to change it yet. So without any further delays here are the links:

Update
The third part of the video is now available for all to see. It shows us a part of a very "unpolished" Torlan remake and some new vehicles. Be sure to listen in the beginning of the video as they have something important to say about the rocket launcher.

Well in all honesty if they would release a game like Jagged Allience 2 with the same graphics I probably wouldnt enjoy it as much as I did back then... I mean every gloryfies the past, I collect games so I should now ^^ Although I still enjoy older games I would still like to see them with todays level of graphics... just think of a game like System Shock 2 with the UE3-engine, makes me drool just thinking about it ^^ Oh and HOMM5 rocks, you just need a decent comp to run it :)

I have decent comp, no problem running it. But it just isn't as clear and simple to operate as homm3 was :p. I mean, adventure map for example, you have to spin around the camera to see some chest behind a mountan and what not.. all this crap takes time :/. Rather pointless imo.

Yea, ofcoz, I'd like to see nice gfx too ONLY IF playability didn't suffer because of that. And still it depresses me that they use (waste) enormous resources on gfx :/.

I would :). All I need, is some new features, new environments (maps), new weapons. I've had quite a lot of these "relaxing-and-playing-some-random-game-for-couple-of-weeks-day-and-night" sessions. I think I've played 4 or 5 times the original JA2 through with different.. umm.. strategies and "handicaps". Handicaps being some constraints I've set to make the game more challenging. One constraint for example -- I don't Load.. if Raven dies, she dies, no saving/loading bs ;). And once I played at toughest difficulty level + ironman mode with one man army (only the IMP character). Last winter I discovered JA2: Wildfire 5.0 and played that. New weapons and stuff, but damn buggy. There was supposed to be a patch coming up, but the developer had some legal issues with Strategy First Inc or smth like that. The next "session" I'll certainly try to get my hands on JA2: Wildfire 6.0. Btw, JA3 is "soon" to be released :)

Hmm, I can't wait for this game! I only miss the SG...but it may be better without it, who knows?:)
Are rockets faster than in 2k4, or its only me who think that?

ints: i really cant comment on the games you mentioned because i didnt play them :) .. but you talked about how games a few years back didnt care about graphics and thats not true. HL1 looked amazing when it was released, so did UT1. and even older games had great graphics.. i remember when duke nukem 3d was released. i loved to play it becuase of the great gameplay but also because the graphics was so nice. it was so cpu and gfx demanding that i barely could play it on my computer. personally, i love the fact that graphics develop so much every year. its quite amazing to see how much things have changed since i was a kid playing C-64.

That's exactly what they didn't do (unlike UT2k3). If you followed the development of UT2k7, you should know they made the game, maps etc. work perfectly in every possible way gameplay-wise before they even started adding the graphics.

Charlatan. Well.. yeah, they looked amazing, true.. I just tried to point out that noone hates graphics _itself_ (as you stated in your first post) but it seems that too many games released in last 5 years have been f-ed up because of concentrating too much on gfx and putting less effort in developing gameplay.

I did, that's why I'm still looking forward to ut2k7. I hope that they fulfilled their promises and utilized those "gameplay fist, then gfx" ideas in other aspects of the game too.

As I already said I've got nothing against good visuals as long as it has absolutely no negative impact on playability and gameplay. I consider these as 2 different things, playability being (umm.. can't find right words in English) the "convenience" of operating the game, doesn't really concern FPS-games but RPG-s/RTS-s and such (try HOMM3 vs HOMM5. I'd be damn happy if they allowed to switch to "classic" homm3 2D interface in homm5 and just add higher resolutions).

naah, no point in arguing. We, teh so-called hardcore Unreal fans are just a tiny minority. If gfx sells and results in bigger and _lasting_ community and doesn't result in crappier gameplay, go for it!

Anyway, it's summer -- sun is shining and it's already 15 degrees, who cares about the computer games anyway :p

PS. Nosnos. Sneaking up on your enemies with knives and throwing knives REALLY DOES ROCK in ja2:wf. You should still give it a try if you're into such kinky stuff.

The hole thing look pretty nice, im looking forward to the release date. but im a bit afraid.

Im a big fan of the ut series but if they do the same shit as ID with q4 (only eyecandy and shit gameplay) ill get crazy.
My biggest fear is the sentece they said on the beginning of the development: "We try to make a game for beginners, with less movment and less trickjumps like in ut2k4, everybody should get frags not only the people who play the game proffessional"

Ut without the cool, fast and high dogde is only a q4 copy. Also the Shieldgun is so fucking nice, i cant think to play without it :/

Well if you listen what he say in the third video everyone should know that the map they show is a "unpolished" map, a map where they can test the gameplay, weapons and balance of the map. And as they have said before they go for the gameplay and balance of the maps BEFORE they put on the eyecandy.

So I cant understand why everyone keeps saying "lets hope they dont do like quake 4 and ruin it with eye candy" or "lets hope they learnd their misstake from UT2k3 where they went for good looking maps instead of playable maps".

Listen on what they say and I think all your questions should get answerd, they DO try out the maps so they will be playable and lets hope they let some good players try out the maps so they can say whats wrong with em or alteast try to fix them in patches later on. And I really do think that they will listen to the hardcore UT fans this time, because if they do listen to us they will prolly get the worldtour and more "big" tournaments with UT2k7 in em.. And with that they get like free marketing and I think every company wants that.

tbh, I havent been this exited towards a new game since Ocarina of Time to my N64 and that was a long time ago. So I get good vibes from it because what I have seen so far just wants me to play it even more then before.


And ye, epic also said they want to own the deathmatch scene again. Dont forget those words.

UT2k7 gonna own the deathmatch scene, and Im pretty sure it will...

Erm played ut1? , There was no high dodge there, there was no shieltgun there. And it was way better then 2k4 (although you prolly would think otherwise) I won't be a q4 it will be even faster then 2k4 was (if iam reading all this correctly) since there will be more closecombat (which also means nubs can kill).

Rox were slower? hmm, it seemed to me that they were faster than in 2k4, or not?

GoiracH, i played ut99 it wasn't a quake copy, it was better then quake, but i like 2k4 because of the less close combat. Rox were bad there, they were slow. And i hope Sniper will be more like LG, or ut99's sniper, but not 2k4's, cause thats a 'bit' useless imo.

Pastran0, no, rox won't bounce, they said rl will can shoot greneades, and those will be bouncing traps:) Rox won't bounce, don't worry:D
Btw, then rox will:
1. shoot one rox
2. load up max 3, and shoot them in a line, or focused
3. throw greneades
Am i right?

I want demo too! :)
