UnrealNorth 2on2 SteelCup - xTp wins!
The cup is over, and after what I can only describe as a massive success we're ready to look at what happened in this tournament.
Last night we had some of the, in my opinion, best UT2004 2on2 matches ever played!
We had UTV, shoutcast and even scorebot, it couldn't have been better; check inside for results, demos and everything else!
UB Final
xTp ( zeD + inSi) [2:1] Saints and Sinners ( luxxiz + Freeman) - demo.
The UB Final was the first game to be played last night and it kicked off in the best possible way, xTp and sas going head to head with almost even scores for the whole game, ultimately we found ourselves watching a blasting 5 minute overtime, which was only decided with approximately 30 seconds left with sas stepping up and taking the last few frags to secure the first map, DM-Rankin.
Second map, Corrugation was won in safe style by xTp, after map elimination the decider map was Campgrounds which was pretty much a one sided affair later on into the game, xTp wins their way into the Grand Final, while sas must play OctopuS in the LB Final.
LB Final
OctopuS ( sebo + Lazarus) [1:2] Saints and Sinners ( luxxiz + Freeman) - demo.
After a short break, we were ready to go yet again. First map was Campgrounds, OctopuS' choice, it seemed as sas had lost their motivation after losing to xTp, and OctopuS played an amazing game, taking Campgrounds home without further problems. But it wouldn't just be a walk in the park for OctopuS, on Rankin sas managed to bounce back and beat OctopuS in a strong style.'
Yet again we would have to see a decider map, this time it was AkBal, a quite different map to watch for many, but nevertheless it turned out to be a real thriller, sas and OctopuS both seemed to want the Grand Final spot very much and were certainly not giving the other team any chances of walking away with an easy win. 1 minute left and the score different were switching between 1-2 frags all the time, UTV was glowing hot by spectators cheering and A_Spec's voice seemed like it would die any second, 30 seconds left and the score is tied up, 40:40 and both teams know that the years of practise can be what decides this game, 5 seconds left, A_Spec is doing the countdown, 4 seconds, and Freeman takes down an OctopuS player and thus makes it 41:40.
After one hell of a game, OctopuS drew the shortest straw and thus sas advances into the Grand Final, where they once again will meet up against xTp.
Grand Final

The time is nearing 23:30 and we're finally ready for what we've all been waiting for this tournament, the Grand Final, yet again sas picks Rankin and xTp picks Corrugation. After both winning each their map they head off for the decider map, which yet again is AkBal.
Despite it was getting late, and we'd been going since 19:30, everyone was in their best mood on UTV, A_Spec kept on going on the shoutcast and the players were playing better than ever. The match progresses fairly even, with xTp maintaining a small lead most of the time, with a few minutes left that lead has increased to almost 10 frags, as time ticks down it seems to look darker and darker for sas and with around 30 seconds left, they know it's over and start spamming out the smilies and calling the good game. After a really good final we've finally found the winner, xTp!

Last but not least, I hope you enjoyed this cup, the games and the coverage.
I personally want to thank the people who made it possible for me to run it as well as it was.
Thanks to Cosmo for UTV, thanks to A_Spec for shoutcasting, zech for helping me during the groupstage, thanks to all the players being easy to handle and getting demos from, especially luxxiz who took care of the Serverside demos from the last 3 games.
Of course thanks to everyone who signed up, and obviously also everyone who followed the cup, it wouldn't had been anything without you guys!

It was a fucking great cup so far, and we had so much fun and so intense games. I`m happy that we got so far, so it wouldnt be so sad if we would get "just" 2nd or 3rd, but we will give 150% to become 1st!

Impressive show so far by all the participants, think anyone of the remaining 3 can make it to the top, even if oct will have a hard time down from LB. Well organized cup, thumbs up!

First I have to say that it was much fun to see all these interesting matches and to here the shoutcast. So thx to tewic and zech for a nice cup and Cosmo + A_Spec for the great coverage.
I think at the end xTp will win the cup, because they played some awesome matches in the playoffs. As far as I can remeber, they have lost only one single map (against daddy and killza). zeD and inSi are unstopable (no: they are wicked sick :D ) !
