40% shaft and minigun.. 100% shock aim and non registering and (more annoyingly) invisible rockets and flak are some are the wonderful things you have to look forward to with netcode enabled :D

UTComp 1.7 netcode felt me much smoother, then 1.6 or 1.5 netcode. but ofc its still not perfect.

Brb, just going to put on my "BITCHING AND WHINING" Hat on and post in a thread.
Who knows lozz. Maybe when I draw for Top 16, You'll get a match vs EU kid. then your next opponent with be EU and you'll lose.
Then again, all I hear is "omg, brlbglbrlbg, /rubvagina"

Agreed with jaQal..
People whine if there's no cups with money
Then when there are, it ain't enough money, or something is wrong.
From just looking at it, it seems to be quite reasonable rules... and if the utc 1.7 netcode is better than 1.6 it cant be THAT bad.
And guess what, most of the people whining probably wont come in top8 in their continent to be able to face off vs the other continent, so what's the problem?
Just want to say GJ to the organizers who're putting up a nice effort, providing something nobody else is capable of atm..
last but not least, if you don't like the rules, then nobody is forcing you to play - and nobody is hindering you from hosting something yourself.
Yes yes, I just had to add a bit more rant to this thread.
Hf & gl to everyone who's going to play =)

@ tewic.
- I was whining @ utcomp, not at the cup. The cup has been well organised and it's really good to see money competitions in ut2004 at this point.
Also, that attitude of "IF YOU DONT LIKE IT M8S FUCK OFF" doesn't really help at all, because people will just "fuck off" (ofc you want as many people to play as possibe!). And that's why ut is so inactive :D.. things have to be done in the way people like it. But ofc netcode is the most reasonable way of doing this and it will ofc be interesting to see USA vs EU matches, so i'm not arguing with that :F.
Also another point.. where do you draw the line for netcode games? for example some USA players can ping about 90 in UK servers but some italians/spanish/israelis ping around the same as that in servers around europe :p - will they get netcode too? :)

Hey, i would like to say great initiative! Really awesome finally having some cup like this again.
However i got one question, now i got this rule, and understand it:
NewNet / 0 Ping
- In the case of you playing someone far from your country, NewNet will be used.
- Example: EU vs USA player
- EU Player picks map; match is played on USA server
- USA player picks next map; match is played on EU server
But, what if: it comes to a third map, how do we decide what server location it will be played at?
Will you decide that by counting frags, or how does it work?
*And how are you going to seed this tournament?
BTW, isn't this supposed to be main news on the site? Don't want to be pushy or anything to you guys that do it in their free time, but if someone has some time to do it, i think it would help out for more registrations :)

with all due respect and no offense intended, you might want to do a bit of tidying up and throw a spelling check on your article.
